Araştırma sonuçlarına göre EMDR’nin etkileri
Araştırma sonuçlarına göre EMDR’nin en Travma Sonrası Stres Bozukluğu tedavisinde etkilidir. Ancak travmatik etkileşimin olduğu bütün rahatsızlıklarda EMDR’nin katkısı büyüktür.
2. Dünya Savaşı, Vietnam, Kore, Irak, Afganistan mağdurları birçok tedavi yönteminden istifade edememişler ancak EMDR terapisinden çok fayda görmüşlerdir. EMDR yeniden yaşantılama (re-experience), kâbus görme ve diğer travma sonrası stres bozukluğu semptomlarında tamamen düzelme sağlamıştır.
Fobi, panik bozukluk, obsesif kompulsif bozukluk ve yaygın kaygı bozukluğu olan kişilerde korku ve semptomlarda azalma elde edilmiştir.
EMDR polis memurları, itfaiyeciler, suç mağdurları ve bazı çalışan gruplarında yaşanan saldırılar ya da iş ile ilgili travmalara bağlı olumsuz tepkileri iyileştirmiştir.
Sevdiği birini kaybedenlerde görülen şiddetli yas durumunda ya da görev sırasında yanlışlıkla insanların ölümüne neden olanlarda görülen suçluluk duygularında EMDR etkili olmuştur.
Rahatsız edici yaşam olaylarına maruz kalan çocuk ve EMDR çalışmaları depresyon ve birçok semptomun düzelmesini sağlamıştır.
Cinsel saldırılar en şiddetli travmalar kategorisindedir. Buna maruz kalan kişiler toparlanmada büyük güçlük çekerler. EMDR terapisi ile bu kişiler kısa sürede normal yaşamlarına dönebilmiş ve yakın ilişkiler kurabilmişlerdir.
Deprem, sel, tsunami gibi doğal afetlerle terör, savaş gibi insan eliyle gerçekleşen afetlere maruz kalanlarda yapılan EMDR terapileri normal yaşama dönmelerini sağlamıştır
Trafik kazası, uçak kazası, cerrahî operasyon ve yanık mağdurlarları ile yapılan EMDR terapisi sayesinde kişiler yeniden üreten bireyler olarak hayata dönebilmişlerdir.
EMDR terapisi aile, evlilik ya da cinsel problem yaşayan kişilerde ilişkilerin düzelmesine büyük katkı sağlamıştır.
Uyuşturucu, alkol, seks ve kumar gibi bağımlılıkları bulunan kişilerde EMDR terapisi nüks oranlarını azaltmış ve daha stabil bir hayata kavuşmalarını sağlamıştır.
Çevreden kopmayla giden Disosiyatif bozukluklarda EMDR terapisi geleneksel tedavi yöntemlerine göre daha hızlı bir ilerleme kaydetmiştir.
EMDR terapisi performans kaygısı durumlarında çok etkilidir. Okul, iş, konser, tiyatro gibi sahne etkinlikleri ve spor aktivitelerinde (yarışlarda, müsabakalarda) performans kaygısı yaşayan kişilerde EMDR terapisi hem kaygıyı azaltmada hem de performansı artırmada etkili olmuştur.
Migren, kronik ağrı (fibromiyalji), ampütasyona bağlı organ kayıplarında yaşanan hayalet ağrı (fantom ağrısı), kronik egzama, mide problemleri, kronik yorgunluk sendromu, psikojenik felç, yeme bozuklukları ve olumsuz beden algısı ile giden bedensel sorunlarda EMDR terapisi yaşanan sıkıntılarda büyük rahatlama sağlamıştır.
Depresyon tedavisinde hem yetişkinlerde hem de ergenlerde EMDR terapisi ile başarılı sonuçlar alınmıştır.
Akut travma, travma sonrası stres bozukluğu ve travmaya bağlı kişilik ve karakter sorunlarında EMDR terapisi ile kalıcı etkiler elde edilmiştir.
